Urmo Laaneots works as the Chief Information Security Officer of the e-Governance Academy, helping all employees of the organisation to understand the risks related to information processing and supporting them when making risk management decisions.

Urmo has worked continuously in the IT field for over 15 years. He has an applied higher education from the Estonian College of Information Technology in the field of information systems administration and has applied the acquired skills while working in various jobs related to IT and information security in the fields of defence, e-health, government, finance and startups.

Urmo has extensive experience in creating a risk management system and is a master in aspects and tools related to a secure physical environment. He has implemented various processes related to information security such as the incident process, business continuity of the organisation, security event logging and monitoring, access rights management, etc. He successfully secured the computer fleet and computer network of several companies by applying best practices and security-enhancing measures. In addition, Urmo has led several teams where he practised people management through vision, OKRs and feedback. He has built several service models, trained thousands of employees, and created empowering processes.

Before joining the e-Governance Academy, Urmo’s challenge was to manage the international IT department and implement several ICT infrastructure projects in addition to the information security manager’s job. The result of the work of many projects has always been a secure physical environment, a high-performance computer network, supporting and emotion-creating audio and video solutions and other ICT systems that are high-performance and profitable according to service agreements.
