Explore future digital trends at the 7th e-Governance Conference

The 7th e-Governance Conference “A Digital Decade in One Year” invites digital leaders and decision makers from all around the world to discover where the digital governments are headed and to identify new challenges and perspectives of developing more sustainable and inclusive digital societies. The conference will be held online on 18–20 May 2021 at egovconference.ee

According to Linnar Viik, Programme Director of the e-Governance Conference, the Conference aims to provide governments with the new perspective on how to systemize the experience gained from 2020 and move forward with more sustainable digital transformation.

“The pandemic accelerated changes that are worth a whole digital decade. The governments have received a huge and very valuable experience of how to transition online and do so very quickly. Now they have to focus on how to maintain the rapid digital transformation in more sustainable way and also consider the digital responsibility the governments and corporate players have,” said Linnar Viik.

The e-Governance Conference 2021 takes a closer look at the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic by addressing the questions raised by the new normality:

• How to keep up with the rapid change?
• What is the underlying legal framework of developments?
• What are the good examples of combining public and private sector forces?

Moreover, the Conference provides participants with the fresh look at the next normality to discover:

• How to gain trust for using, storing, and re-using personal data online?
• Will the digital responsibility principles help guide governments and corporate players towards more sustainable and inclusive digital societies?
• What are the technology trends that influence a government’s digital transformation plans and strategies?

Conference speakers include President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, futurist and author Trond Arne Undheim, Former President of Estonia Mr Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Professor at University College London Sir Geoff Mulgan, CEO of Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions (NIIS) Ville Sirviö, Managing Director of United Nations’ Better Than Cash Alliance Ruth Goodwin, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Transformation Agency of Australia Randall Brugeaud, CIO of Estonian Government Mr Siim Sikkut, and ministers and high-level government officials from Ukraine, Mongolia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan and Uganda.

Besides the live discussions, presentations and networking possibilities, the conference, participants are welcome to visit the virtual expo to meet with international and Estonian IT companies and organisations who have assisted in the digital transformation of many governments.
