Building digital skills of public sector in Bangladesh
It is well known that people matter the most in digital transformation. That’s why equipping public sector employees with essential digital skills and knowledge is crucial for successfully implementing and utilising IT solutions and developing digital services.
In March, eGA experts focused on this priority in Bangladesh, engaging with government organisations and academia that conduct public sector training programs. Meetings were held with officials from the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, Bangladesh Computer Council, Institute of Information Technology of Dhaka University, National Institute for Local Governments, and the Public Procurement Authority to assess training needs.
Based on these insights, eGA experts will develop training-of-trainers programmes and propose new curriculum modules to strengthen the capabilities of public sector employees. The goal is to empower them to lead and contribute to digital transformation initiatives that enhance public service delivery in Bangladesh.
What topics will the curricula focus on? In the meeting, participants agreed that the updated curricula would cover key topics such as interoperability, cybersecurity, data management, cyber resilience, digital services, public service delivery, and accessibility. Additionally, jointly with the Public Procurement Authority, we will develop an e-procurement capacity-building programme.
This expert mission is part of the EU-funded “E-ffective e-governance” project, implemented by the e-Governance Academy & the British Council in partnership with the Cabinet Division and ICT Division of Bangladesh. The project aims to build a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive public sector in Bangladesh.
