1 million digital veteran IDs have been issued via Diia

Digitalisation of services for veterans is a priority for Ukraine’s digital transformation. The e-Governance Academy team is actively involved in developing such tools, as they offer practical value and meet the real needs of Ukrainians who protect their country.

One such solution is the Veteran e-ID in Diia, it is a digital document that is legally equal to its paper analogue. Over 1 million users have already generated this e-document, which confirms their veteran status and enables them to quickly access government services and benefits without having to present a paper certificate each time. This result demonstrates that digital services are forming a new way of interaction between veterans and the state.

During the development of the service, the team at the e-Governance Academy provided expert support, in particular by sharing the experience of implementing the automatic granting of combatant status.

Each such service represents another step towards a digital state, where the services people need can be accessed quickly, conveniently and without unnecessary bureaucracy.

The service has been implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in collaboration with the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine, with the support of the ‘Dіia Support Project’, which is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and funded by Sweden, and with expert support from the DT4UA project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the e-Governance Academy.
