5th international e-Governance Conference hosts 110 countries
5thannual international e-Governance Conference taking place on 21–22 May in Tallinn, Estonia will focus on digital transformation roadmaps and present case studies from African, Eastern Partnership as well as EU countries and beyond. All in all, over 450 participants representing 110 countrieswill participate in the conference.
Eight countries are represented at the ministerial level: Armenia, Aruba, Bangladesh, Brunei, Ghana, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Mauritius and Rwanda. Conference participants from the most distant countries come from Vanuatu, Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles. The largest delegations are from Ukraine, Mauritius and Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, 23 ambassadors of the United Nations will also join the conference.

According to the Deputy Director of the e-Governance Academy, Hannes Astok, the 5the-Governance Conference is a meeting place for e-governance experts and enthusiasts from all over the world. “Countries are all in different stages in their development but have the same goal to use digital technologies for prosperity and people’s welfare. We invite governments, local authorities and businesses to take a closer look at future e-governance trends and to find inspiration from case studies to set brave goals and plan the next steps in their country. Collaboration between countries, regions and sectors is a key to benefit from innovations,” said Hannes Astok.
The two-day conference will feature more than 40 experts and leaders in the area of digital government developments. The conference will be opened by President of Estonia Ms Kersti Kaljulaid.
CONFERENCE SPEAKERS
Keynote speakers will include Fabrizio Hochschild, Assistant Secretary-General at United Nations, Andrus Ansip, European Commission Vice-President, Ravi Shankar Chaturvedi,Co-investigator & Head of Digital Planet, Tufts University and Liselotte Lyngso, Founding Partner of Future Navigator.
The list of speakers also includes Paula Ingabire, Minister of ICT and Innovation of Rwanda, Lacina Koné, Smart Africa, Siim Sikkut, CIO of Estonia, Côme Berbain, CTO of France, Shauneen Furlong, one of Canada’s key e-government drivers, Prof Robert Krimmer, TalTech, and other e-governance experts.
CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
The first day of the conference is dedicated to national examples of digital transformation and cross-border cooperation. The second day of the conference focuses on public-private partnership case studies and showcases digital transformation from cities and regions in Japan, Finland and Estonia.
At the conference, a special track is dedicated to the most interesting and forward-looking developments taking place in Estonia: Artificial Intelligence in governance, predictive public services at national and local level, data-based governance, e-health system, i-voting lessons learnt, and data driven and future-proof infrastructure.
The conference is organised by the e-Governance Academy in cooperation with the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VFS Global and Tallinn City.
