eGA continues to support digital transformation in Tunisia

The Ministry of Communication Technologies of Tunisia and the e-Governance Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 16May to further the collaboration on digital transformation and developing the eID ecosystem.

 The MoU was signed by Faycal Sboui, Director General of the Tunisian Centre of Informatics, and Aile Kullerkupp, Member of the Management Board of the e-Governance Academy during a study visit to Estonia.

The memorandum covers study visits and capacity building activities, implementation of joint projects and research activities, and exchange of best practices in the area of digital governance.

According to Programme Director of Smart Governance Marit Lani, Tunisia is interested in developing their digital identity ecosystem as one of the key enablers of digital governance to advance the provision and use of electronic public services.

“We are taking the Estonian example as a basis to inspire our Tunisian colleagues to arrange the building blocks that they already possess into a well-functioning digital identity ecosystem,” Marit Lani said.

e-Governance Academy’s collaboration with the Government of Tunisia started in 2012 with collaboration on open governance, contribution to the development of the legal, financial and organisational setup of e-government in Tunisia, followed by a digital maturity assessment of investment-related services and the currently ongoing project on eID concept development.
