Memorandum with the Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia
Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia (MOD) and the e-Governance Academy (eGA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation as part of the European Peace Facility (EPF) assistance measure to strenghten the cybersecurity capabilities and resilience of the Georgian Defence Forces.
The 2022 EPF cyber defence support package, 3.2 million euros in total, enhances the ability of the Cyber Security Bureau under the Georgian Ministry of Defence to detect and counter cyberattacks. This includes conducting staff training sessions, supplying critical cyber software and hardware, and improving the network infrastructure.

The EU’s European Peace Facility (EPF) finances the common costs of Common Security and Defence Policy missions and operations as well as Union action for third states, regional or international organisations aimed at strengthening military and defence capacities and supporting military aspects of peace support operations. The EPF’s overarching objectives are to prevent conflicts, promote peace, and enhance international security.
Collaborating with over 280 organizations in 141 countries since its foundation in 2002, the e-Governance Academy (eGA) is a leading non-profit organization that assists governments worldwide in leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and promote democratic governance. With its extensive global engagement, eGA plays an important role in shaping e-government policies and providing technical solutions to strengthen governance systems.
At present, eGA is actively involved in two critical cybersecurity projects in Georgia: the “Assistance Measure to Support the Georgian Defence Forces – Cyber Component” (EPF assistance measure adopted in December 2022, EUR 3.2 million) and “Assistance to Georgian Ministry of Defence – Cyber Defence Component” (EPF assistance measure adopted in May 2023, EUR 1 million). Through these projects, eGA is committed to advancing Georgia’s cybersecurity resilience.
