Indian digital developer gathering from Estonia ideas for Digital India
Indian delegation of 23 Chief Information Officers visited Estonia this week, 11 – 15 of April – in order to examine how e-government systems work. During their visit the delegation gathered ideas for the development of Digital India.
One of the organizer Mrs Caralyn Khongwar Deshmukh, from National e Governance Division, Govt of India pointed in her feedback: “The programme was excellent. We were impressed about Estonian government ability to run e-government systems with minimum resources and find simple solutions. We are amazed and convinced that architecture such as as X-road is the right approach to integrate complex systems and maintain seamless co-operation while maintaining autonomy and data integrity. Our main learning was that in building e-government collaboration amongst the departments, not competition, is the key.”
The delegation visited during the week Government Office of Estonia, State Information Systems Authority, Parliament of Estonia, Tartu City Government and Centre for Registers and Information Systems to get an overview of Estonian Best Practices on e-Governance and had different lectures on interoperability framework, cyber security, e-democracy tools and open data.
Study tour is organised in cooperation with the Indian National Institute For Smart Governance.
