The National Cyber Security Index gives governments a tool for developing cyber security
On May 31, e-Governance Academy will launch the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) version 1.0. We will present the NCSI methodology and call countries to join the initiative.
Our aim is to develop a comprehensive cyber security measurement tool that provides accurate and up-to-date public information about national cyber security. The National Cyber Security Index measures countries’ preparedness to prevent the realisation of fundamental cyber threats and readiness to manage cyber incidents, crimes and large-scale cyber crises. The NCSI could be used as a tool for national cyber security capacity building.
The index measures how well countries are prepared for fundamental cyber threats such are, but not limited to, denial of e-services, data integrity breaches, and data confidentiality breaches.
The index has 12 indicators, which are organised in 4 groups:
- General Cyber Security Indicators
- Baseline Cyber Security Indicators
- Incident and Crisis Management Indicators
- International Incident Indicators
These 12 indicators have several sub-indicators and measurable aspects.
The idea of the index is to collect public data at the national level and present it with evidence materials. It means, that we publish only information which could be backed up with available public websites or official documents.
The NCSI website will be a “living” environment, where we make changes according to the new available data. For more information, please check www.ega.ncsi.ee after 31st of May.
