A series of cybersecurity trainings brings experts together in Baku

Representatives of the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan, the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, critical infrastructure stakeholders and other cybersecurity institutions are coming together in Baku this week for a series of specialised trainings. Held from 20 to 24 April, the sessions cover cybersecurity risk governance for financial system stability, incident response maturity assessment, malware information sharing, and network threat detection.

The trainings cover both strategic and technical aspects of cyber resilience. The seminar on financial-sector cybersecurity risk governance looks at how cyber risks can affect financial stability and what lessons can be drawn from the EU perspective. The workshop helps participants assess the maturity of incident response capabilities across organisation, people, tools and processes. The technical workshops focus on practical tools used by CSIRT and CERT teams for sharing threat intelligence, detecting malicious activity, and improving operational response.

Rauf Jabarov, the Executive Director of the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (AKTA) noted: “These trainings are important because cyber resilience is built across institutions, not in isolation. Bringing together representatives from the financial sector, critical infrastructure and the wider cybersecurity community helps strengthen practical knowledge, improve coordination, and build the kind of trusted cooperation that effective incident response depends on.”

Elsa Neeme, Project Lead and Senior Cybersecurity Expert at e-Governance Academy highlighted that supporting this kind of practical cooperation is an important part of the European Union-funded project Improving Cyber Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries 2.0. “Working together with strong local partners in Azerbaijan helps ensure that these activities respond to real needs and contribute to stronger long-term capacity, cooperation and resilience.”

The activities in Baku are organised in cooperation with local partners under the European Union-funded initiative Improving Cyber Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries 2.0, implemented by the e-Governance Academy.
