Improving cyber resilience in Eastern Partnership countries 2.0
Cybersecurity is essential for national security, economic stability, and public trust. As digital technologies evolve, so do the threats targeting governments, businesses, and individuals, making strong cyber defenses critical for protecting infrastructure and data.
The EU’s Eastern Partnership Cybersecurity Initiative responds to these challenges by enhancing cyber resilience in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Moldova implemented by the e-Governance Academy and in Ukraine and Armenia implemented by GIZ. Through regional cooperation, legal alignment, and capacity building, the initiative strengthens defenses against evolving threats, supporting stability and trust across the region.
Outputs:
- Strengthened national cybersecurity governance and legal framework across the EaP countries in line with the NIS2 Directive core pillars.
- Developed critical information infrastructure frameworks in the EaP countries.
- Increased operational capacities for cybersecurity incidents management in the EaP countries.
In Moldova, the focus is on industry-specific cybersecurity; engaging chambers of commerce and industry associations representing the interests of SMEs and critical infrastructure; supporting legislative updates aligned with EU standards.
In Georgia, the focus is on cooperation with NGOs and civil society organisations rather than solely governmental stakeholders and promoting digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness, especially in rural areas.
In Azerbaijan, the focus is on regional capacity building and institutional frameworks, conducting targeted training programs and strengthening governance structures, enhancing cooperation with regional and international cybersecurity stakeholders.
Planning and execution of regional activities will involve a collaborative approach between eGA and GIZ, ensuring alignment and maximising impact across target countries.
