eGA supports Czechia in NIS2 implementation
Czechia is taking the next step in strengthening its national cybersecurity framework by preparing for the full implementation of the NIS2 Directive.
A new project, funded by the European Union through the Technical Support Instrument (TSI) and managed by the European Commission’s SG REFORM, will support this effort by strengthening the institutional and administrative capacity of National Cyber and Information Security Agency of the Czech Republic (NÚKIB), the central Czech government body for cyber and information security.
The project, implemented by the e-Governance Academy (eGA) in cooperation with SG REFORM, will support NÚKIB in adapting its organisational structures and service delivery to manage the significantly expanded scope of obligations introduced by the revised directive.
As one of Europe’s strongest countries in cybersecurity, Czechia already has solid institutional foundations in place, with NÚKIB playing a central role in legislative development, incident response, cyber threat monitoring and international cooperation.
At the same time, the implementation of NIS2 is expected to increase the number of regulated entities in Czechia by at least fifteen-fold. “It affects almost every sector of the economy, including healthcare and finance, which rely on secure and resilient digital infrastructure,” commented Adam Kučínský, Director of the Regulation Department of NÚKIB.
“As the number of regulated entities grows substantially, it is essential that NÚKIB has the organisational capacity and operational tools to oversee the expanded scope effectively,” added Lukáš Kintr, the Director of NÚKIB.
For eGA, the focus is on helping turn the Directive’s broader requirements into sustainable institutional change and day-to-day operational readiness.
“Our role is to help translate the expanded NIS2 requirements into practical organisational processes, stronger internal capacities and effective stakeholder engagement. This will give NÚKIB the tools and capabilities to manage the Directive’s expanded scope and strengthen Czechia’s long-term cyber resilience,” added Taimar Peterkop, Senior Expert and Project Team Lead at the e-Governance Academy.
The project is funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument and implemented by the e-Governance Academy in cooperation with the European Commission.
