The e-Governance Conference hosts 300 e-governance developers from around the world
The 8th e-Governance Conference “Resilient and Seamless Governance” will focus on digital governments’ resilience during war and crises and explore the future of public services. The conference will be held in person in Tallinn, Estonia, and online at egovconference.ee on 10–12 May 2022.
The conference will feature digital leaders from Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mongolia, Poland, Tonga, Tunisia, Ukraine, and international organizations. Over 300 participants from 75 countries will come to Tallinn.
According to Hannes Astok, Executive Director of the e-Governance Academy, the topics of this year’s conference have been influenced by the war in Ukraine, natural disasters, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in public service provision. Also, Estonia’s digital progress inspires many countries and development cooperation leaders looking for ideas to enhance digital ecosystems or upgrade public services.
“Over the last eight years, the e-Governance Conference has become a meeting place for digital leaders of developing countries, Estonian e-government decision-makers, and international donors. Many digital collaboration projects have been inspired by this conference. For example, the recent development of a data exchange platform in Djibouti, the creation of a digital roadmap for Pacific island countries and cooperation with the governments of Aruba, Dominica, and the Cayman Islands,” said Hannes Astok.
The conference speakers include President of Estonia Alar Karis, Estonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Eva-Maria Liimets, President of the Future of Life Institute Max Tegmark, CIO of the Irish Government Barry Lowry, Deputy Minister for Eurointegration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Valeriya Ionan, Digital Embassador of Poland Justyna Romanowska, Director General of Smart Africa Lacina Koné, Government CIO of Estonia Luukas Kristjan Ilves, Author and UX consultant Vitaly Friedman, Tech entrepreneur and investor Sten Tamkivi, Research Fellow at the University of Oxford Paul Timmers, and others.
This year, the three-day conference will begin with an introductory day on 10 May to explore the experiences of the Kingdom of Tonga in post-volcanic eruption and of both Ukraine and Poland in supporting displaced persons during the war staged by Russia. The conference will continue with two days of live discussions, presentations, and networking. Its participants are welcome to visit the expo to meet with 15 international and Estonian IT companies and organizations which assisted in the digital transformation of many governments.

The e-Governance Conference is an annual event organized by the e-Governance Academy (eGA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia since 2015 in collaboration with international donors and organizations.
