Continued EU support to cybersecurity
The European Union-funded project Continued EU Support to Cybersecurity (EU4CyberUA) supports Ukraine in strengthening its national cyber resilience and advancing alignment with European cybersecurity standards.
Ukraine remains one of the most targeted countries in the world when it comes to cyberattacks. As the country continues its digital transformation, advances towards EU membership, and responds to the challenges of Russia’s ongoing war, strengthening cybersecurity has become essential to ensuring the continuity of public services, protecting critical infrastructure, and maintaining trust in digital government.
The European Union-funded project implemented by eGA and Fundación para la Internacionalización de Administraciones Públicas (FIAP) in partnership with the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) contributes to building stronger institutions, improving preparedness, and supporting secure digital governance.
By combining institutional support, technical expertise, capacity building, and international cooperation, the project helps strengthen Ukraine’s ability to protect critical systems and digital services while supporting the country’s long-term integration into the European digital and cybersecurity ecosystem.
In the project, eGA focuses on four areas:
- Strengthening cybersecurity governance and operational capabilities across public institutions and regions by expanding Regional Cybersecurity Centres and training infrastructure.
- Improving the resilience of critical infrastructure and public digital services. It supports the development and modernisation of cybersecurity-related information systems, strengthens protection mechanisms, and enhances the ability of institutions to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats.
- Developing the expertise needed to address an increasingly complex threat landscape through specialised training programmes, cybersecurity exercises, awareness-raising activities, and support for the establishment of a National CISO Training Centre.
- Supporting Ukraine’s closer integration with the European cybersecurity community. It provides legal and technical assistance for alignment with key EU cybersecurity frameworks (including NIS2, CER Directive, and eIDAS2) and facilitates cooperation between Ukrainian institutions, EU agencies, Member States, and international partners.
- Promoting cybersecurity awareness and cyber hygiene. Through public communication and awareness-raising activities, the project encourages safer digital behaviour and helps build a stronger cybersecurity culture across Ukraine.
