Cyber Range Exercise “MD-EE Cyber Shield“
Positioned in a region affected by political tensions and hybrid warfare, Moldova is increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks targeting government institutions and critical infrastructure. Skilled cybersecurity professionals are essential to prevent disruptions, respond rapidly to incidents, and ensure the continuity of services that citizens rely on every day.
Through the cyber range exercise „MD-EE Cyber Shield“, Estonia supported Moldova in strengthening its cybersecurity expertise and enhancing skills to detect, counter, and recover from cyber threats effectively. The exercise focused on critical infrastructure and state authority cyber experts.
The cyber range exercise aimed to equip participants with hands-on experience and practical skills to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats. Over two days, 54 participants from critical service providers and government institutions engaged in threat hunting and live-fire simulations, culminating in a hack-back scenario. Additionally, a Capture the Flag (CTF)-style challenge will provide technical depth and test participants’ agility under pressure.
The cyber range exercise run on CybExer’s cyber range platform, offering realistic simulation environments. A dedicated solution also provided near real-time visualisation and comparison of exercise data, ensuring the training is transparent, engaging, and valuable for both technical responders and senior decision-makers.
The cyber range exercise was conducted with the support of ESTDEV and in collaboration with the e-Governance Academy (eGA), CybExer Technologies, and the National Cybersecurity Agency (ASC). CybExer Technologies and eGA have a proven track record in delivering advanced cybersecurity training in Moldova and beyond, including multiple EU-supported exercises for state authorities and Moldovan Armed Forces military experts.
