Ukraine took part in the Fourth Meeting of the Interoperable Europe Council
Ukraine participated in the Fourth Meeting of the Interoperable Europe Council, which took place in Brussels.
Since December, Ukraine has been participating in the Council’s work as an observer. This allows Ukraine to contribute to the shaping of EU approaches and standards at the development stage and to prepare Ukrainian digital systems in advance for integration with the single digital market.
Oleg Burba, an expert from the e-Governance Academy, took part in the meeting alongside a team from the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The parties are working on developing the interoperability of government systems.
“Participation in the Council’s work allows Ukraine to synchronise the development of digital systems with European approaches even before their formal implementation. As a result, integration takes place gradually at the level of decisions and standards. We would like to thank our colleagues from the European Commission, in particular the DG DIGIT Directorate, for their cooperation and the opportunity to be part of this process,” said Oleg Burba.
The meeting discussed:
- the update of the European Interoperability Framework. The adoption of new rules is expected in 2027;
- the further development of Interoperable Europe and the identification of next steps;
- issues of digital sovereignty and the development of secure technologies and cloud infrastructure.
At the same time, Ukraine and the EU are finalising a joint work plan on interoperability, which provides for the harmonisation of digital systems, joint work on standards, and preparations for Ukraine’s integration into the EU’s single digital space.
