E-participation in local governments

Duration December 2008 - December 2009

The general aim of the project was the development of participatory democracy at the local level through the increase of skills and competencies to hold a dialogue between local municipalities, civil society organizations and citizens. The direct beneficiaries of the project included the representatives of local governments and councils, members of civil society organisations and active citizens.

Our activities to reach this aim were a) mapping of existing best practices in Estonia and abroad, b) organising seminars in six Estonian regions and c) opening the discussion forum on the webpage of eGA.

The concrete outcome of the project was the analysis of existing e-participation practices in Estonian municipalities and the manual with methodology description for developing e-participation practices based on the practices, that emerged from debates and contributions of experts.
