Guatelama´s Minister of Economy visited eGA
On 11 November, Mrs. Gabriela Garcia, Guatemala’s Minister of Economy visited eGA´s Tallinn office during her visit Estonia. One of the aims of the visit was to explore Estonia’s digital journey and discuss digital collaboration. This high-level visit builds on the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between eGA and Guatemala´s Presidential Commission for Open and Electronic Government in June 2024.
Reflecting on her visit, Minister Garcia noted, “Experiencing Estonia’s digital ecosystem firsthand made it clear — we need to act now to make our government data interoperable and foster transparency, efficiency, and anti-corruption in Guatemala’s public sector.”
During her stay, Minister Garcia met with Estonia’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Erkki Keldo, Deputy Secretary General Martin Roger, and eGA´s Chairman Hannes Astok to discuss future initiatives. Some of the plans include Estonia-Guatemala shadowing missions and advisory visits to support a resilient, institutionalised digital transformation in Guatemala.
The Minister also attended the Tallinn Cyber Diplomacy Summer School, gathering valuable insights to advance Guatemala’s digital vision and strengthen its role in global cybersecurity.
