Cybersecurity Rapid Response for Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia 2.0

In the context of the growing dependency of economies and societies on digital technologies, the overall global cyber threat landscape continues to aggravate. Responding to increased cybersecurity concerns, the EU has stepped up its cybersecurity engagement with Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, beginning with a Cybersecurity Rapid Response project 1.0 from August 2022 to July 2024, and followed up with the Cybersecurity Rapid Response 2.0 from April 2024 to September 2025.  
Distinct contribution of this Project will be in increasing the technical and operational capabilities of beneficiaries for large-scale cyber crisis management, both through increased risk mitigation and incident response. The overall objective of this action is to contribute to the enhancement of cybersecurity preparedness, response and incident coordination of Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia for large-scale cyber incidents.

The primary objectives of this next phase are to:

  • Increase operational cyber capacities of Security Operations Centres and Computer Security Incident Response Teams of beneficiaries;
  • Improve inter-institutional information sharing and incident response coordination;
  • Strengthen cyber resilience of democratic institutions and processes.
During the first phase of the EU-supported project Cybersecurity Rapid Respose for Albania, Montenegro and North-Macedonia 1.0 eGA experts contributed to the improvement of cyber resilience in the aforementiond countries in compliance with EU acquis and best practice. Read about the project here.
