Digital Maturity Assessment of Georgian Railway

Duration July 2021 - January 2022

The project aimed to conduct the Digital Maturity Assessment of the JSC Georgian Railway to provide a foundation for the further digital transformation of the company.

In recent years Georgia has launched a series of reforms and policy actions to improve the country’s business and investment climate, including through significant investment in Georgia’s transport infrastructure. Building on this success, the Government is keen to develop Georgia into a regional logistics hub, tapping the full potential of the country’s favourable geographical location between Europe and Asia along the Trans-Caucasus Corridor, to help achieve long-term sustainable economic growth, create jobs and improve living standards. However, to achieve this, further efforts are still required to improve Georgia’s transport infrastructure and services, particularly concerning the efficiency of ICT systems, technologies and applications in JSC Georgian Railway.

To facilitate the digital transformation of JSC Georgian Railway this assessment:

  • appraised the company’s current state of digitisation with a particular focus on business-relevant e-services;
  • provided recommendations to maximise the impact of existing digitalisation efforts;
  • identified new areas for digitalisation; and
  • proposed an organisational model to optimise stakeholder coordination and enabled Georgian Railway to implement a comprehensive digital transformation.
