PADOS conference on open governance
Today is the final conference day for Participatory Democracy, Open Governance & Efficient eGovernment Services project #PADOS. The project was aimed to enhance the transparency and openness of decision-making and governance as well as to support democratic governance in six EU Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
Liia Hänni, senior expert on e-democracy participated in a Finnish-Estonian debate on the future of open governance. During the debate Liia Hänni pointed out that active citizens are needed and they should be partners for the government. She also added that there are different kinds of challenges regarding to open governance for example the lack of political leadership and information security are very critical factors.
