North Macedonia’s Minister for Digital Transformation discusses cybersecurity cooperation

On 16 September, North Macedonia’s Minister for Digital Transformation Mr Stefan Andonovski hosted a meeting with Merle Maigre, Head of eGA Cybersecurity Competence Centre and Milan Sekuloski, Project Manager of Cyber Balkans to introduce the Ministry´s plans and priorities for cybersecurity governance reforms in the country. They discussed how two ongoing EU funded projects Western Balkan Rapid 2.0 and Cyber Balkans could best support them. 

“It was great to reconfirm our excellent cooperation with Macedonian institutions and talk about tangible next steps and activities for the upcoming period,” Milan Sekuloski said.

In the Western Balkan region, eGA has implemented various projects and activities in the field of cybersecurity governance. The Western Balkan Rapid 1.0 (2022-2024) worked together with numerous stakeholders in North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro to improve cybersecurity incident and risk management as well as develop technical skills of cybersecurity experts of governmental agencies and critical service providers through technical cybersecurity exercises. The project´s second iteration, Western Balkan Rapid 2.0 continues to enhance cybersecurity preparedness, response and incident coordination of Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia for large-scale cyber incidents. Cyber Balkans project covers a larger regional framework, working with public and private stakeholders in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia to improve cybersecurity prevention, preparedness and response.
