Marit Lani
Marit Lani is Head of the Governance and Engagement Competence Center at the e-Governance Academy. She coordinates the work on digital readiness reviews, having developed maturity assessments and digital transformation roadmaps for countries across the globe. She has also cooperated with UNDP and IOM in developing assessment methodologies.
In addition, Marit leads and acts as an expert in projects on digital governance, including projects focusing on national interoperability and e-services, upgrading civil registration, and cybersecurity. She is currently leading eGA activities in the Digital Alliance high-level policy dialogues initiative between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean, but over more than 10 years, she has worked with countries such as Benin, Tunisia, Iraq, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and Tonga. She has also contributed to developing and managing the eGA National Cyber Security Index.
In her previous jobs, she gained a comprehensive understanding of European cooperation programmes and international cooperation. Working at the Estonian Ministry of the Interior, she was involved in preparing various European territorial cooperation programmes at the national level and led the related communication activities. Afterwards, she moved to Germany to work for the INTERREG IVC programme as an information point coordinator, providing advice to applicants on project development, assessing applications and monitoring approved projects. She also coordinated the e-government services project cluster.
Marit holds a Master‘s degree in Public Management from the University of Tartu.
